I believe, that when we consistently violate or ignore God's spiritual designs, especially value one, it creates deep personal issues in us that puts us in bondage to Satan. The bible calls theses issues, "strongholds". Many, so called "recovery programs", give some relief but often lead to a bondage of their own developing a life long dependency on the program rather than true healing and victory over the strongholds.
